Terms of Service

Edison Technology Services
A division of Edison Systems, LLC
Effective Date: March 27, 2026
Last Updated: April 24, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Edison Technology Services website and your purchase or use of services provided by Edison Technology Services, a division of Edison Systems, LLC (“Edison Technology Services,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).

By accessing this website, contacting us, requesting an estimate, scheduling service, submitting a device for repair, paying an invoice, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use this website or our services.

1. Services Provided

Edison Technology Services provides technical services which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Device diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Computer, phone, tablet, and game console repair
  • Component replacement and hardware repair
  • Software troubleshooting and system restoration
  • Data-related diagnostic or recovery efforts when specifically requested
  • Other related technical services offered through our website, communications, estimates, or invoices

All services are subject to availability, technician discretion, parts availability, and any written estimates or approvals provided for a specific job.

2. Estimates, Approval, and Repair Authorization

Any estimate provided is based on the information available at the time and may change if additional problems are discovered during diagnosis or repair.

By submitting a device for service, you authorize Edison Technology Services to inspect, diagnose, and perform the approved work on the device. No additional paid repair work beyond the approved scope will be performed without customer authorization, except where minor testing, disassembly, or handling is reasonably necessary to complete the requested service.

You understand that some issues cannot be fully confirmed until a device is opened, tested, evaluated more closely, or worked on directly.

Electronics repair is inherently uncertain. Some devices may be non-repairable, may contain hidden faults, or may fail during diagnosis or repair due to pre-existing damage, corrosion, prior repair attempts, manufacturing defects, contamination, or fragile condition. While reasonable care is used, Edison Technology Services does not guarantee that every device can be restored or that a device will not worsen during a repair attempt where pre-existing issues are present.

3. Customer Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate contact, billing, and device information
  • Remove or disclose any locks, passcodes, or account restrictions when necessary for approved testing
  • Back up important data before service whenever possible
  • Remove SIM cards, memory cards, accessories, cases, or personal items you do not want left with the device, unless they are needed for diagnosis or repair
  • Promptly review and approve or decline estimates, communications, or repair recommendations
  • Disclose known prior repair attempts, liquid exposure, infestation, contamination, modification, or other material device history when known

You are responsible for maintaining your own backup of important data before service. Even when reasonable care is used, repair work can involve a risk of data loss, corruption, device reset, software changes, or device failure.

4. Device Data, Privacy, and Access

Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

When a device is submitted for repair, we do not browse through customer photos, messages, documents, accounts, or other personal content unless access is genuinely necessary to diagnose, test, or complete an approved repair.

If passcodes, PINs, passwords, or login credentials are provided, they may be used only as reasonably necessary for diagnosis, testing, software procedures, and verification of device function related to the approved service.

You understand that diagnostics, testing, software troubleshooting, firmware behavior, resets, storage issues, or necessary troubleshooting steps may result in loss of settings, saved data, or system resets.

5. Parts, Replacement Components, and Compatibility

Repairs may involve new, refurbished, aftermarket, third-party, pulled, reconditioned, or customer-supplied parts, depending on availability, pricing, device condition, and customer approval.

Unless expressly stated in writing, we do not guarantee that replacement parts will be original manufacturer parts.

Some aftermarket or third-party parts may differ from original parts in appearance, feel, fit, calibration, durability, firmware behavior, water resistance, biometric compatibility, screen quality, battery health reporting, or other performance characteristics.

If a customer supplies their own part, we are not responsible for defects, incompatibility, premature failure, hidden damage, or warranty limitations related to that part.

6. Data Loss, Pre-Existing Conditions, and High-Risk Devices

You understand and agree that:

  • Repair, diagnosis, software work, and parts replacement can involve risk to device functionality and stored data
  • Devices may have pre-existing damage, prior repair attempts, corrosion, manufacturing defects, hidden faults, contamination, infestation, or fragile conditions that affect repair outcome
  • Devices that have been previously opened, modified, or worked on by another party may require additional bench time, cleaning, parts, pad or trace repair, or diagnostic effort
  • If prior repair attempts, missing parts, stripped screws, board damage, lifted pads, torn traces, severe corrosion, or related issues are discovered, additional charges may apply and repair may be declined or determined uneconomical
  • Some devices may fail during diagnosis or repair due to pre-existing issues unrelated to technician negligence
  • Edison Technology Services is not responsible for loss of data, loss of use, loss of accounts, or loss of business arising from device failure, delayed repair, unsuccessful recovery attempts, or pre-existing device condition

If data preservation is critically important, you should make that known before service begins.

7. Payment Terms

Payment is due as stated on the invoice, estimate, or other written communication.

A $40 diagnostic fee applies to diagnostic, inspection, and evaluation services unless otherwise stated. This fee is non-refundable and covers technician time, testing, disassembly, inspection, and diagnostic work. If you approve the recommended repair, the diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair total.

Any waiver or refund of a diagnostic fee is solely at Edison Technology Services’ discretion and does not create an obligation, standard policy, or precedent for future refunds.

We may require partial or full payment in advance for certain services, special-order parts, custom work, or high-value repairs.

Completed devices may be held until the balance due is paid in full, where permitted by law.

Any diagnostic fee, bench fee, inspection fee, rush fee, cleaning fee, contamination fee, parts deposit, or other charge communicated before or during service is considered part of the agreed service terms once approved.

8. Abandoned Devices and Unclaimed Property

If a repaired device, quoted device, or other customer property is not picked up within 30 days after notice that it is ready for pickup, declined, or awaiting customer action, it may be treated as abandoned property to the extent permitted by applicable law.

We may attempt to contact you using the information you provided. If you do not respond within that time, we may charge storage fees, cancel the repair, recycle, salvage, dispose of, or otherwise handle the device as permitted by law.

9. Turnaround Times and Delays

Any repair timeline given is an estimate only, not a guarantee.

Turnaround times may be affected by parts delays, shipping issues, hidden damage, corrosion, contamination, prior repair attempts, device condition, manufacturer restrictions, customer response time, workload, or other factors outside our control.

We are not liable for delays caused by third-party suppliers, shipping carriers, software locks, manufacturer restrictions, or events outside our reasonable control.

10. Limited Warranty on Repairs

Unless a different warranty is stated in writing for a specific service, Edison Technology Services provides a 90-day limited warranty on the specific repair performed.

This warranty applies only to the exact repair completed and does not cover:

  • Physical abuse, liquid damage, corrosion, contamination, infestation, impact damage, misuse, neglect, unauthorized opening, modification, or tampering after service
  • Software issues unrelated to the repair performed
  • New failures in unrelated components
  • Customer-supplied parts
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Battery degradation or consumable-part wear unless specifically covered in writing
  • Pre-existing conditions, hidden faults, prior repair attempt damage, or intermittent issues outside the original approved repair

Liquid-damaged, corrosion-affected, heavily contaminated, infested, or biohazard-affected devices may be excluded from warranty coverage entirely unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.

Warranty remedies are limited to re-inspection and, at our discretion, re-performance of the original repair covered by the warranty. Refunds are not the standard warranty remedy.

11. No Guarantee of Repair Outcome

Some devices cannot be repaired economically, safely, or successfully.

We do not guarantee that every device can be restored, that every intermittent problem can be reproduced, or that every data recovery effort will succeed.

Devices containing insect infestation, biohazards, animal urine, excessive filth, smoke residue, mold, or heavy contamination may be refused, subject to additional cleaning or handling charges, or serviced without warranty at our discretion.

Payment for diagnostics, labor performed, or approved attempts may still be due even if a repair is unsuccessful, if that possibility was disclosed as part of the service.

12. Website Use

You agree not to misuse this website or any related systems. You may not:

  • Use the site for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to disrupt site functionality or security
  • Copy, scrape, reproduce, or republish site content without permission
  • Submit false, misleading, abusive, or fraudulent inquiries

We may limit or block access to the site for misuse.

13. Intellectual Property

All logos, branding, page content, images, written material, and other intellectual property on this website are owned by Edison Technology Services, Edison Systems, LLC, or used with permission, unless otherwise stated.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or use our content or branding without prior written permission.

14. Third-Party Services

Our business and website may rely on third-party platforms or providers, such as payment processors, website hosts, analytics tools, email providers, mapping tools, parts suppliers, shipping carriers, or communication services.

We are not responsible for the separate terms, privacy practices, downtime, failures, or actions of third-party services.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Edison Technology Services and Edison Systems, LLC shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of use, or loss of goodwill.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to a service or transaction shall not exceed the amount actually paid to Edison Technology Services for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms eliminates rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Edison Technology Services and Edison Systems, LLC from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the website, your breach of these Terms, your violation of law, or your ownership or use of the device submitted for service, except to the extent caused by our own wrongful conduct.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where another law is required to apply.

18. Disputes

Any dispute arising from these Terms or from services provided by Edison Technology Services shall be handled first through a good-faith effort to resolve the issue informally.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, any further dispute shall be brought in the appropriate state or federal court located in or serving Laurel County, Kentucky, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

19. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date or last updated date.

Your continued use of the website or services after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
